Matrix

The matrix serves as the advance organizer for the e-Portfolio. The matrix clearly illustrates how each artifact included in the e-Portfolio meets one or more professional responsibilities through their corresponding performance indicators. The Xs, identify which performance indicators are addressed by each artifact.

Six Key Assessments:
EDTC 6320 – Cooperative Project
Project Description: The goal of this cooperative project was to create a dynamic, informative, and persuasive 3-5 minute multimedia presentation that provided an overview of the educational technology career field. In the first phase of the project our team put together a client proposal in which we identified the audience, the need, and proposed a solution to the identified problem. Our team felt that a multimedia presentation was the best way of informing potential students and employers about what the field of educational technology encompasses. During phase two of the project the team developed a dynamic and informative multimedia presentation using PowToon. In the presentation we defined instructional technology, covered some of the jobs and duties of an educational technologist, as well as the potential salaries of a graduate with a degree in educational technology. The informative evaluation is the third and last phase of our cooperative project. As a team we reflected on the feedback given, created an artifact report, and made some minor modifications to our presentation to make it more effective.

EDTC 6321 – Instructional Design Project
Project Description:The purpose of this assignment was to design, develop, implement and evaluate of a 30-minute Instructional Unit for a specific target audience in a specific learning environment. Using the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, & Evaluate) approach, I identified the causes of current performance gaps in the Hauser Communication Research Lab at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. The Hauser Communication Research Lab provides an opportunity for students to improve their oral proficiency skills by working one-on-one with trained speech coaches who have received approximately 15 contact hours of training in how to coach/assess students in their oral communication competency development. Following design and development, a training was implemented. Following implementation, a formative evaluation was conducted, and a report was created. Changes were made after the evaluation was conducted.

The project is broken down into five parts:

  • IU1: Identifying learners, their environment, and an Instructional Goal.
  • IU2: Conducting a task analysis and identifying the instructional objectives.
  • IU3: Writing the performance objectives and assessments.
  • IU4: Developing the instructional strategy.
  • IU5: Conducting a formative evaluation.

EDTC 6323 – Interactive Multimedia Object
Project Description: The purpose of this project was to design a web-based Multimedia/Hypermedia learning objective for the Hauser Communication Research Lab at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. The learning object was designed to teach speech coaches how to create STAR interviewing questions. The content is presented via the learning object. The learners participated by viewing the multimedia presentation, engaging in activities, and completing assessments. The assessments evaluate performance objectives.

The project was three-fold. First, a training analysis was conducted and a plan was developed. Second, the multimedia learning object was created. Third, the multimedia learning object was evaluated and changes to the learning object were made

 EDTC 6325 – E-Learning Design Project
Project Description: The goal of this project is to design, develop, implement, and evaluate instruction using an e‐learning platform. This project was designed to help university instructors combat apprehension about online teaching and prepare instructors for online teaching. During this instructional training, communication instructors learned how to design and manage an online course using the Blackboard Learn platform.

The E-Learning Module project is divided into six parts:

  • Part 1: E-Learning Module Proposal
  • Part 2: Module Description and Outline
  • Part 3: Blackboard Interface Design
  • Part 4: Adding Content (Overviews, Assignments, and Discussion Activities)
  • Part 5: Adding Assessments (Developing Online Quizzes)
  • Part 6: Adding Multimedia (Developing Multimedia Presentations)
